Ayurvedic Approach in Treatment of Rheumatism

Ayurvedic Approach in Treatment of Rheumatism

Rheumatism consists of various types of diseases and, therefore, one line of treatment cannot be suggested for all types of diseases.  Yet, in ayurveda, treatment of all rheumatic problems,  with the exception of gout and knee-related disorders, is almost the same.  Local application, massaging, removal of constipation, restoration of mobility and stopping furtheer damage are the basic concepts.

However, the role of food in controlling a disease cannot be denied.  Some rheumatic and arthritic disorders can be improved via a dietary regimen.  If one takes ayurvedic medicines and herbs  but fails to eliminate disturbing food items from the diet, he is simply wasting resources and efforts.  In fact, food and medicine complement each other.  Hence, due weightage should be given to the dietary regimen.   There are certain dietary restrictions in ayurveda for those who are suffering from rheumatic problems.
